Release: Congressman Lance Gooden Urges DOJ to Investigate Fraud Cover-Up in $275 Million Green Energy Scandal
Washington - Representatives Lance Gooden and Carol Miller (R-WV) today called on Attorney General Pamela Bondi to launch an investigation into the Biden DOJ’s dismissal of a $275 million fraud lawsuit against Tonopah Solar Energy, LLC. The case, filed under the False Claims Act, exposes millions in taxpayer losses tied to the failed Crescent Dunes solar project—a glaring example of reckless green energy crusades.
The DOJ’s decision to drop the case, filed just one day after the 2024 presidential election, reeks of political interference and corruption. After years of investigation into allegations of fraudulent use of Treasury cash grants, the Biden DOJ abruptly claimed the case was “not in the public interest,” despite no financial or legal risks to the government.
“This isn’t just fraud; it’s a cover-up,” said Rep. Gooden. “The American people deserve answers about why taxpayer dollars were squandered and why Biden’s DOJ worked overtime to bury the truth.”
Rep. Gooden requested an internal investigation into the decision-making process, potential political motivations, and any conflicts of interest in this case. He also called on Attorney General Bondi to consider allowing CMB Export, LLC, to continue prosecuting this lawsuit and hold accountable those who exploited taxpayer funds.
“This is about green corruption,” Gooden said. “The Biden administration turned the DOJ into a shield for fraud and political favoritism. Texans and all Americans deserve better.”
Rep. Tom Tiffany, Rep. Eric Burlison, Rep. Scott Perry, Rep. John Rose, Rep. Darin LaHood, Rep. Andy Ogles, Rep. Brandon Gill, and Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, also joined the letter.
