WASHINGTON – On Wednesday, Congressman Lance Gooden (R-Texas) sent a letter to Facebook’s parent company, Meta, demanding the preservation of all documents previously requested by his office that are relevant to future Congressional investigations into the root causes of the border crisis.
In a previous letter to Meta in November, Gooden requested documents pertaining to the border crisis and reports of human traffickers and smugglers using the company’s platforms to facilitate the movement of migrants, including children. Meta subsequently denied his request.
Rep. Lance Gooden said, “I am deeply concerned by Meta’s role in fueling the migrant crisis and their refusal to comply with my request for information. If the company will not provide these documents now, then they will be compelled to by Congressional subpoena next year.”
