WASHINGTON – On Thursday, Rep. Lance Gooden (R-TX), joined by Reps. Madison Cawthorn (NC-11), Chip Roy (TX-21), Mary Miller (IL-15), Jeff Duncan (SC-03), Lauren Boebert (CO-03), and Michael Cloud (TX-27), introduced the Keeping Immunizations Discretionary for Students (KIDS) Act, which prevents the Biden Administration from withholding or limiting funds based solely on a COVID-19 vaccine mandate for students or employees.

On Wednesday, November 3, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) formally recommended children age five to eleven receive the COVID-19 vaccine. This comes soon after the Biden Administration’s announcement that the government has stockpiled enough vaccines for every child in the United States.

The Administration’s track record suggests it is only a matter of time before children are mandated to receive a vaccine to attend public school. Thus far, the Administration has mandated federal employees, federal contractors, businesses, and the military receive the COVID-19 vaccine. More disturbingly, liberal cities have already begun their assault on parent choice, with San Francisco mandating all children show proof of vaccination to enter restaurants and other public buildings.

Congressman Gooden said, “The Biden Administration’s track record suggests it is only a matter of time before they mandate public schools require COVID vaccination. I believe the decision to vaccinate a child should be made by the parents, not the government, and my legislation would ensure the government does not take that choice away.”
