Washington - Today, Congressman Lance Gooden (R-TX) took the oath of office to begin his new term representing Texas’ 5th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.

“As I begin this new term, I remain dedicated to working with President Trump to secure our borders, bring jobs back from overseas, strengthen our national defense, and dismantle Biden’s weaponized government." Said Congressman Gooden. "The people of East Texas deserve a strong, America First voice in Washington, and I am committed to delivering results that improve our lives and safeguard the future.”

119th Congress
In the 119th Congress, Rep. Gooden serves on the House Committee on the Judiciary and the House Committee on Armed Services. On the Judiciary Committee, he is a member of the Administrative State and Regulatory Reform Subcommittee as well as the Courts and Intellectual Property Subcommittee. These assignments place him at the center of policymaking efforts to prioritize U.S. innovation, protect intellectual property, advance artificial intelligence initiatives, and address strategic competition with China.

On the Armed Services Committee, Rep. Gooden serves on the Tactical Air and Land Forces and Military Personnel Subcommittees. This role is especially vital given Texas’ significant contribution to national defense. With 15 active military bases and a robust aerospace, aviation, and defense labor force, Texas is indispensable to America’s security and economic strength. In 2021, these operations contributed at least $114.1 billion to the state’s economy.
