WASHINGTON – On Tuesday, Congressman Lance Gooden (R-Texas) introduced the No Tax Dollars for the United Nation’s Immigration Invasion Act to prevent U.S. taxpayer dollars from funding migrant caravans.

In recent years, there has been an endless stream of caravans bringing migrants from South America to the U.S.-Mexico border. Organizations under the umbrella of the United Nations are using taxpayer dollars to facilitate this illegal migration by providing support to the caravans throughout their journey. This support includes free legal advice and even cash assistance.

Rep. Gooden’s legislation would prohibit contributions to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), and the International Organization for Migration (IOM). This prevents taxpayer funds from being used to facilitate mass migration into the United States.

Congressman Gooden said, “U.S. taxpayers should not be subsidizing a mass invasion of our country by an endless stream of unknown and unvetted migrants. It is time for the Biden Administration to put an end to this crisis and regain control of our southern border.”

Preston Huennekens, Government Relations Manager of the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) said, “The United Nations has long abused the sovereignty of independent nations, particularly the United States, through their migration organizations. The American people – not unelected international bureaucrats – deserve to have a say in refugee and asylee resettlement. We applaud Congressman Gooden’s leadership on this issue and FAIR fully supports the No Tax Dollars for the United Nations Immigration Invasion Act.”
