WASHINGTON – Congressman Lance Gooden (TX-05) sent a letter to Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Chris Wright expressing strong support for the Genesis Mission, a landmark initiative to deploy artificial intelligence (AI) across America’s scientific ecosystem and strengthen U.S. competitiveness against China.
In the letter, Rep. Gooden emphasized that rapid AI integration is critical to maintaining American leadership in energy, technology, and innovation while reducing reliance on Chinese supply chains and countering Beijing’s growing influence in advanced research.
“America must lead the world in innovation, not fall behind the Chinese Communist Party. The Genesis Mission accelerates AI-driven discovery, strengthens our energy future, and ensures the U.S. drives the next generation of technological breakthroughs,” said Rep. Gooden.
An excerpt from the letter:
“President Trump’s November 2025 Executive Order launching the Genesis Mission leverages the full potential of American National Laboratories, technology, and industry. Private sector innovators play a critical role in ensuring the United States remains the global leader in emerging technologies. The DOE’s rapid response to President Trump’s call to action by entering into new research partnerships with organizations at the forefront of health, energy, manufacturing, and technological innovation is commendable. This thoughtful collaboration will harness the unique combination of government resources and industry expertise to accelerate innovations that will benefit Americans for generations to come.”
The letter is cosigned by Reps. Michael McCaul (TX-10), Pat Harrigan (NC-10), Troy Nehls (TX-22), Cory Mills (FL-07), Robert Wittman (VA-01), Victoria Spartz (IN-05), Jack Bergman (MI-01), and John McGuire (VA-05).
