Gooden: Utmost faith in President Trump's team, but Congress must fully understand the impacts a pandemic could have on household economics
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Lance Gooden (R-TX) sent a letter to Chairwoman Maxine Waters (D-CA) and Ranking Member Patrick McHenry (R-NC) of the House Committee on Financial Services this morning to request a hearing to examine the potential economic impacts to millions Americans whose livelihoods would be effected by widespread contagion of the Coronavirus.
In the letter below, Congressman Gooden made clear his confidence in President Trump and Vice President Pence's leadership during this moment in history while emphasizing the importance of making Congress fully aware of what is at stake.
Congressman Gooden issued a statement in addition to the letter:
"It's critical for the public to remember that as we examine potential risks, there is no cause for panic. I'm focused on making sure Congress does everything we can to prepare for all possible scenarios. I pray no drastic measures are required in order to keep our communities safe and fully functioning, but I'd rather be overprepared than underprepared."
