Washington - Today, Congressman Lance Gooden (R-TX) applauded President Donald J. Trump and Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem on their immediate action to freeze all federal funding to NGOs that have fueled the illegal immigration crisis. This move shuts down the corrupt pipeline of taxpayer money that has bankrolled mass illegal migration and weakened national security.
For years, the Biden administration partnered with radical NGOs to aid and abet illegal aliens, using federal agencies like DHS, HHS, and FEMA to funnel billions of taxpayer dollars into migrant resettlement. These organizations provided cash, plane and bus tickets, and housing for illegal aliens, while lobbying for open borders and working against U.S. sovereignty.
"This is state-sanctioned human smuggling," said Congressman Lance Gooden. "For four years, Biden and his enablers in Congress allowed NGOs to act as an arm of the open-borders movement, while taxpayers footed the bill. President Trump is putting an end to it."
THE NGO-FUNDED BORDER CRISIS
More than $2.4 billion from FEMA alone was handed to NGOs from 2021-2024 to aid illegal immigrants.
NGOs actively facilitated mass migration, using federal grants to cover travel, lodging, and services for illegal aliens.
Many of these NGOs are directly tied to left-wing activists and work to undermine border security efforts.
CONGRESSIONAL INVESTIGATION
Congressional Republicans are urging for:
A full accounting of all NGO funding from FY21-FY25.
Immediate termination of federal contracts and grants to any organization aiding illegal immigration.
Full legal accountability for NGOs engaged in human smuggling and the misuse of taxpayer funds.
"This is the first step in restoring order and shutting down the open-borders racket," Gooden stated. "Trump is taking back control. No more taxpayer-funded illegal immigration. No more collusion. No more excuses. America comes first."
