WASHINGTON – On Thursday, Congressman Lance Gooden (R-TX) led a letter to Amazon CEO Adam Selipsky demanding Amazon Web Services reevaluate its business relationship with OnlyFans due to the website’s inability to prevent the distribution of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).
The paywall-protected structure of OnlyFans’s platform prevents both the website itself and federal law enforcement from proactively monitoring the site for CSAM and other illicit sexual content, such as rape and sexual exploitation. In fact, a Homeland Security Investigations’ Special Agent found thirty to fifty incidents of CSAM originating per day on OnlyFans.
Amazon Web Services is currently the cloud services provider for OnlyFans. The letter argues that by continuing to provide this service Amazon is complicit in the promotion of criminal activity harming children in the United States.
Rep. Lance Gooden said, “OnlyFans has become a hotbed for child exploitation and the structure of the platform prevents law enforcement from sufficiently monitoring the site.” He continued, “Amazon Web Services must prioritize the protection of children over profits and immediately terminate its relationship with OnlyFans until adequate safeguards are in place.”
