WASHINGTON – The Class of 2028 United States Service Academy application process for Congressional nominations in Texas’s 5th District is open. Young men and women from the 5th district who have a calling to serve their country and wish to pursue higher education at one of the U.S. service academies are encouraged to apply.
"Our nation's service academies offer an exceptional education to outstanding young Americans looking to serve their country." Said Congressman Gooden. "Nominating qualified young men and women to these institutions is an honor, and I look forward to reviewing this year's applicants."
The nation’s five service academies offer appointments to highly qualified individuals who meet eligibility requirements and are the most competitive in academic performance, physical fitness, medical standards, extracurricular involvement and community service, leadership traits, motivation, and aptitude for military service. Successful candidates for selection to a service academy must apply directly to and meet the admission requirements of the specific academy and receive a Congressional Nomination. A Congressional Nomination is not needed for the United States Coast Guard Academy.
Application Process: If you, or a student you know, would like more information about attending one of the US service academies or have questions about the application process, please visit www.gooden.house.gov and select “Serving You->Service Academy Nominations” for more details on the nomination process or contact Congressman Gooden’s Canton office at (903) 502-5300.
