WASHINGTON – On Wednesday, Congressman Lance Gooden (R-Texas), joined by Senator Marco Rubio (R-Florida), sent a letter to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) demanding the agency preserve all documents related to the screening and transportation of illegal immigrants at U.S. airports for use in future congressional investigations.
Rep. Lance Gooden said, “I am shocked by TSA’s policy of allowing illegal immigrants’ arrest warrants to serve as identification when boarding a flight, as well as with their refusal to provide my office sufficient explanation for the policy. Congress must investigate why the Biden Administration put American lives and our national security at risk by allowing criminal aliens to board a plane.”
Earlier this year, Congressman Gooden uncovered TSA’s policy of allowing arrest warrants to serve as identification. Gooden and Senator Rubio subsequently introduced the Strengthening Enforcement to Curtail Unlawful, Risky Entrance to (SECURE) Flights Act to prevent this from happening again. In addition to the letter to TSA, Congressman Gooden and Senator Rubio have requested the Department of Homeland Security Inspector General conduct a review of TSA’s policies and procedures that allow illegal aliens to enter the sterile area of an airport and board a plane. Congressmen Scott DesJarlais (R-TN), Barry Moore (R-AL), Byron Donalds (R-FL), and Randy Weber (R-TX) joined Rep. Gooden as signatories on the letter to TSA. You can read the full text of the letter here.
