WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Lance Gooden (R-TX) voted in objection to the certification of the electoral vote from the states of Arizona and Pennsylvania. An outspoken advocate of further investigation into election irregularities, Congressman Gooden objected to numerous other states. Ultimately, the only objections which came to a vote were those for Arizona and Pennsylvania. Congressman Gooden issued the following statement after casting his vote:
Congressman Gooden - "I have spent the months since the election urging Congress and the Department of Justice to conduct a thorough investigation into the allegations of fraud and wrongdoing in our most recent election. No such inquiry ever took place and the American people never received the answers they deserve.
"While the violence we witnessed in the Capitol is unacceptable, none of the facts that led us to question the integrity of the election have changed.
"We were asked to certify results the American people do not have faith in. I voted against certification in solidarity with the millions of Americans who demand more from their government. Confidence in our electoral system must be restored."
