Congressman Lance Gooden (R-TX) Supports Coverage for Pre-Existing Conditions
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Lance Gooden (R-TX) made clear this week he supports legal protections to ensure health insurance coverage for patients with pre-existing conditions. While congressional Democrats spent their week in a tailspin over the never-ending investigation into President Trump, they also voted to pass a bill that made it impossible to protect patients.
Congressman Gooden said, “My support for legislation to protect patients with pre-existing conditions is unwavering. I have co-sponsored legislation and am happy to work with my colleagues across the aisle to fix the broken system we have today. Democrats spent the whole week saying this is a bill to protect pre-existing conditions, but loaded it up with radical policies they knew Republicans don’t support. It was a complete waste of time and taxpayer dollars.”
“Americans want to keep the coverage they’ve got. Regardless of what my colleagues say about this bill, their party is heading straight toward government-run health care. Their standard proposals would take 150 million Americans off their private insurance plans and would strip Medicare recipients of the benefits they are due. I will continue to oppose any bill that threatens Medicare and the ability of patients to see the doctor of their choice.”
