WASHINGTON – On Wednesday, Congressman Lance Gooden (R-Texas) sent a letter to Treasury Secretary Yellen demanding an investigation into Russian interference via climate and environmental groups.
Specifically, the letter asks Secretary Yellen to investigate foreign influence, financial involvement, and interference by several environmental groups in the United States, including the Sea Change Foundation, the Sierra Club, the Sunrise Movement, and League of Conservation Voters Education Fund. The letter also highlights Russia’s history of spreading misinformation to deter domestic energy production and undermine U.S. national security.
Rep. Lance Gooden said, “President Biden is beholden to a cabal of radical environmental groups who are preventing his administration from unleashing America’s full energy potential. We must investigate whether these groups are undermining our national security because they are funded or supported by the Russian government or Russian controlled entities.”
