WASHINGTON – Today, in a House Judiciary hearing, Rep. Lance Gooden (R-TX) demanded answers from Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas on the escalating crisis at the southern border and the disturbing role of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in enabling illegal immigration.
Under the Biden administration's lax border policies, the U.S. has seen a drastic increase in illegal border crossings, with more than 2.4 million migrant encounters reported in Fiscal Year 2022 alone.
During the hearing, Rep. Gooden highlighted federal funding of religious NGOs, like Catholic Charities, among others. These organizations actively entice illegal immigrants to cross U.S. borders, often promising them financial and logistical support and guidance on evading law enforcement.
