Dear friend,

The Chinese Communist Party must be held accountable for their role in the COVID-19 pandemic, and it’s time their undue influence in our everyday lives is checked as well. The CCP has been operating inside our borders for too long accessing our research, using our banks, donating to think tanks, and lobbying our government. House Republicans are committed to stopping the CCP’s excessive and unwanted interference in our American way of life.

Read on for more about the Countering Communist China Act and an addendum to the House Foreign Affairs Committee’s Origins of COVID-19 Report and take my surveys on both issues.

For students (and parents) interested in applying for a U.S. Military Service Academy nomination, the North Texas congressional delegation has an informational session coming up later this month. Details below, including who to contact for more information.

Sincerely,

Countering Communist China Act

The Senate-passed United States Innovation and Competition Act—allegedly aimed at boosting U.S. competitiveness with China—does almost nothing to combat the China threat despite its claims. House Democrats even hate it so much that Pelosi is bringing her own package to the table. From a conservative perspective, neither of these options goes far enough to combat the Chinese Communist Party. So House Republicans have introduced a 300-page bill that targets the CCP's influence operations within the United States by securing American research and intellectual property; cutting CCP’s political operations wing from accessing and using American financial institutions; requiring that think tanks disclose the money they’re getting from foreign governments; and banning Members of Congress from lobbying for the CCP.

Addendum to Origins of COVID-19 Report

House Foreign Affairs Committee Ranking Member Michael McCaul has released an addendum to the Origins of COVID-19 Report published in September 2020. The addendum outlines evidence that points to the Wuhan lab leak as the source of the outbreak and the cover-up that followed from the Chinese Communist Party officials and scientists at the lab. I encourage you to read the full addendum and tell me what you think.

Do you think a Wuhan lab leak is responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic?
