This week, President Biden bypassed the constitutional role of Congress and announced he is forgiving student debt for families making up to $250,000 a year. This misguided policy will cost American taxpayers over half a trillion dollars, drive inflation even higher, and will only provide relief for the richest 13% of Americans.
Instead of giving handouts to the rich, the Federal Government should hold American colleges and universities accountable for raising tuition rates while sitting on multi-billion-dollar slush funds that are shielded from taxation. It’s time for accountability and to force these liberal institutions to pay their fair share.
I am staunchly opposed to forgiving these loans and will fight to ensure Biden’s executive order is reversed.
