This week, Nancy Pelosi used bipartisan aid to Ukraine to push through her far-left agenda. Despite my support for Ukrainian assistance, I could not and will not vote for another Democrat spending spree on COVID vaccine mandates and Green New Deal programs.
The hyper-partisan provisions within the legislation passed on Thursday ignore the problems facing Americans and fail to ensure the safety of our communities. Policies like cutting funding to Customs and Border Protection (CBP), prohibiting border wall construction, and opening migrant welcome centers will only make our border crisis worse. I fully support helping the brave citizens of Ukraine defend their border, but I am not willing to sacrifice the security of our own to do it.
While liberals in Congress were focused on ramming this bill through Congress, President Biden finally announced sanctions on Russian oil, but he continues to ignore historically high gas prices at home. It is time for the president to stand up to climate activists in control of his administration and unleash America’s full energy potential.

GAS PRICES REACH HISTORIC HIGHS
President Biden broke another record this week, with gas prices hitting an average of over four dollars per gallon. Gas prices are now higher than they have ever been in the history of the United States. President Biden and the White House press secretary will try to blame this on the war in Ukraine but that is a lie. The price of gas is a direct result of the Biden Administration’s war on domestic energy producers.
GOODEN DEMANDS INVESTIGATION INTO ENVIRONMENTAL GROUPS
Russia has a long history of spreading misinformation and will do anything to undermine our national security. We must know whether environmental groups who pushed the Biden Administration to cancel the Keystone pipeline and cripple our domestic energy production are doing the bidding of Vladimir Putin and his corrupt government. On Wednesday, I sent a letter to Treasury Secretary Yellen demanding an investigation into Russian-backed climate and environmental groups.

BIDEN FAILS TO HOLD PUTIN ACCOUNTABLE
President Biden has finally banned imports of Russian oil and gas after weeks of delay, and I proudly supported bipartisan legislation this week to ensure he follows through on it, but he has still refused to implement every available sanction on Putin and his regime. As Ukrainians defend their country from Russia’s violent and disgusting attack, many Russian banks remain un-sanctioned. It is time the administration stops sitting on its hands and uses every tool available to hold Putin accountable. |
