Dear friend,

The events that have unfolded over the last two days are infuriating and heartbreaking, and President Biden’s botched withdrawal from Afghanistan is to blame.

Yesterday’s suicide bombing that killed 13 U.S. service members is now the deadliest attack in Afghanistan since Aug. 6, 2011, when President Obama was in office—with Biden as his vice president. Not a single American has died in Afghanistan since February 2020.

Now, just weeks before the 20th anniversary of 9/11, al Qaeda is renewing calls for attacks on our homeland, just as unprecedented numbers of known or suspected terrorists are crossing our southern border.

I’ve heard from many military veterans in our district this week about this disaster. I will do everything in my power to ensure that their service, as well as the sacrifices of our Gold Star families, will not be in vain. We must remain laser-focused on getting Americans and American allies out of Afghanistan and pray for the safety of our troops as they fight these radical Islamic militants.

Sincerely,

“The buck stops with me.”

President Biden has failed as our commander in chief and is unfit for office. With his approval rating plummeting, Biden’s only defense is to blame Donald Trump for his mess—never mind the fact he served as vice president for 8 years and should have understood the situation better than anyone in the White House.

Tomorrow: North Texas U.S. Service Academy Day

Attending a U.S. Military Service Academy offers high school graduates an opportunity to pursue a college education and serve their country. As a member of Congress, I have the honor each year of nominating candidates for appointment to these academies. The application process is rigorous, so to help students and parents understand the requirements, members of the North Texas congressional delegation are hosting a free public event to learn more. Please share this information with students, parents, and educators in your community. For more information, contact Jennifer Alden in my Canton office at 903-502-5300 or Jennifer.Alden@mail.house.gov.
