Friends,

I am working in Washington to check the power that Big Tech companies have over your access to information.

By having complete control of the digital public square, the “Big 4” (Google, Facebook, Amazon and Apple) ensure that you only see what they want you to see. If only a handful of large corporations are allowed to dominate our online platforms, they will continue to suppress, silence and censor conservative viewpoints and anyone else whose narrative doesn’t fit their own.

Regulators have been asleep at the wheel while Big Tech has quietly eliminated its competition through killer acquisitions. While you may not see the cost in your pocketbook, don’t be fooled: these companies have fleeced the American public of our personal data and our freedom of speech with their monopolistic behavior.

We must bring antitrust laws into the 21st century and rein in Big Tech. It’s a bipartisan issue rooted in conservative values, and I am proud to be leading the charge for you in Washington.

Read on for more on this and other news of the week, including a visit to D.C. from Rusk Junior High School students.

Sincerely,

The Fight Against Big Tech Monopolies & Censorship

OAN: They control thought on social media. Would that be the biggest concern and threat to our democracy?

Congressman Gooden: When you look back at big monopolies of the past, Standard Oil & the Railroads. The U.S. Government broke those up 100 years ago, and that was a totally different scenario. Things are much worse today, because they weren't controlling thought. They weren't controlling speech.

If Donald Trump can't even speak to the American people because Twitter and Facebook say he can't, then is that a company that espouses American values? I don't think so. And so my goal is for these bills to continue to get support from Republicans and Democrats.

Also in Washington: Republicans Fight Back As President Biden Goes After Gun Rights

The Biden-Harris Administration promised to go after our gun rights, and they are following through. This week, I joined Congressman Richard Hudson (R-NC) and over 140 of my Republican colleagues in a letter urging the U.S. Attorney General and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives to withdraw their proposed guidance to ban stabilizing braces. Such guidance could make millions of law-abiding citizens felons overnight and would disproportionately affect our disabled veterans. Read the full letter here.

My Vote to End Forever Wars and Restore the Constitutional Authority of Congress

Yesterday, the House of Representatives passed a bill to repeal the 2002 Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF). The AUMF has been abused by forever war advocates in Washington to extend U.S. military engagement in the Middle East without congressional approval.

The War in Iraq ended years ago. It's past time to end our obsession with forever wars and bring our troops home.
