Friends,

On Wednesday, U.S. Customs & Border Patrol announced that 180,034 illegal immigrants were apprehended in May. Of these migrants, 14,158 were unaccompanied children, many of whom were being trafficked against their will by drug cartels.

The lawlessness at our border must end, which is why I sent a letter to President Biden urging him to explain his plan for preventing child trafficking and stopping this surge of illegal immigration.

Two More Weeks: Breaking News from Palestine on the Union Pacific Closure

I learned yesterday that Union Pacific will continue operations at its Palestine railcar facility for two additional weeks, until June 25. I'm glad employees have two more weeks, but Mr. Fritz has yet to acknowledge receipt of my letter. This closure should be permanently reversed, and I will continue working with city, county and union officials to fight the facility's permanent closure. Congressman Gooden: "Since January, your administration has released over 22,000 UACs with little oversight, and 55% of them were not released to a parent or legal guardian. It is important your administration send a clear message for parents not to send their children here illegally, so they do not fall into the hands of human traffickers."

CBP Reports 20-Year High in Border Apprehensions for Three Consecutive Months

U.S. Border Patrol caught 180,034 migrants crossing our border illegally again in May. The flood of migrants at our border has overwhelmed law enforcement, but the Biden-Harris Administration still refuses to acknowledge that we have a crisis. I want to know what you think.

Congressman Gooden Introduces the Ending Platform Monopolies Act

This morning, I introduced legislation to restore fairness for American innovators in the digital marketplace by checking Big Tech companies’ monopolistic behavior. The Ending Platform Monopolies Act would promote competition and empower entrepreneurs by eliminating conflicts of interest that arise from dominant online platforms' ownership or control of other platforms and businesses. Union Pacific moves forward with furloughs

The Palestine Herald Press

On Friday, Congressman Lance Gooden sent a letter to Union Pacific CEO Lance M. Fritz urging him to reconsider closing the Palestine Car Facility.

The letter stated, “Your decision to essentially close the Palestine Car Facility will have a devastating impact on this rural community, which has maintained a strong relationship with Union Pacific for nearly 150 years. The ripple effect of your decisions will affect the local economy in Anderson County for generations to come.”
